OnLogic (www.onlogic.com) manufacturer and specialist in industrial computers and known for their reliable Orange PCs, reveals the CL250 ultra-small fanless edge computer. The system is designed for use in industrial IoT and edge computing applications in challenging environments. The CL250 is the latest addition to OnLogic’s popular CL200 series.
The CL250 is very suitable as an industrial gateway, SCADA device and automation controller. It fits into almost any application that requires a compact computer. Thanks to various mounting options, components and functions of industrial quality, the system can be used almost anywhere.
“The CL200 systems are among our most popular computers in recent years, thanks to their small size, performance and connectivity capabilities,” said Mike Walsh, Product Manager Industrial at OnLogic. “The CL250 is now equipped with a more powerful Intel processor and we have doubled the working memory. Still, we managed to keep the price lower than its predecessors. “
The CL250 is powered by the Intel® Apollo Lake Pentium J3455 processor and has 8 GB of dual-channel RAM. The system is completely passively cooled. The aluminum housing dissipates heat from internal components to the ambient air. The completely fanless system contains no moving parts. As a result, it works reliably in industrial environments where, for example, there is dust and dirt in the air. CL250 operates in environments with a temperature between 0 ° C and 40 ° C.
The CL250 measures only 115.5 x 82 x 34 mm. Despite this, the system offers a wide range of connections, including two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two 1GbE LAN ports and two mini DisplayPorts. At the bottom of the system there is a 9-pin RS-232 box header port and a USB 2.0 port. The top provides space for four antennas for optional WiFi. These and other expansion cards can be placed in the two available mPCIe slots (a full-height slot and a half-height slot). For easy installation, the system can be mounted using VESA, wall mounting or DIN rail.
CL250 can be configured with Ubuntu Linux or Windows 10 IoT. In addition, it is one of the first OnLogic systems certified for use with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. mSATA provides space for an SSD of up to 1 TB. A built-in MicroSD card slot allows for extra removable storage space. The system also uses Intel Platform Trust Technology (PTT), a firmware implementation of TPM that complies with TPM 2.0 standards. This protects the data stored on the system.
