Roadmap | Kjeld Nuis and Thomas Krol early in action at 1500 meters at the Olympic Games | To skate

Today, Kjeld Nuis will start relatively early at 1500 meters at the winter games. The defending Olympic champion is already in stage 11 against South Korean Kim Min-seok. The 32-year-old Nuis first comes into action at this distance in Beijing.

Countryman and co-favorite Thomas Krol even starts a stage earlier. The reigning world champion in the 1500 meters takes on the Norwegian Peder Kongshaug in the tenth pair. After Nuis has taken action, there are four other rides on the program, with no Dutch in them.

Marcel Bosker, the third Dutch participant in the 1500 meters, is already in action before the mop break. He will take on Cornelius Kersten from Great Britain in stage four. The 1500 meters start at 11.30, the mop break follows after eight of the fifteen trips.

American Joey Mantia and Chinese Zhongyan Ning, two of the favorites for the medals in advance with Nuis and Krol, start after the Dutch. Mantia will compete in stage 13 against the Japanese Seitaro Ichinohe. Ning meets the Japanese Takuro Oda in the trip afterwards. The last stage is between the Norwegian Allan Dahl Johansson and the Canadian Connor Howe.

TeamNL has won four medals in long distance skating at these games. Irene Schouten and Ireen Wüst won gold. Patrick Roest took silver and Antoinette de Jong bronze. Suzanne Schulting secured the fifth Dutch medal in the short course with silver.
