French Amethis is selling the stake in the Kenyan dealer to ILL in Mauritius
French investment fund Amethis has said it will sell its stake in Kenyan retailer Naivas to the Mauritius-based IBL Group. Amethis bought a stake in Naivas in 2020 for an undisclosed amount. A source familiar with the transaction had told Reuters that the purchase was owned by the retailer’s 30% at the time. “This marks the IBL Group’s first investment as part of its East Africa expansion strategy. This agreement is still subject to regulatory approvals,” Amethis said in a statement. The statement did not disclose any details about the terms of the sale. Founded three decades ago and with 84 stores in Kenya, Naivas became one of the top three retailers following the collapse of Nakumatt, a local supermarket chain that had dominated the industry.
Spar Austria introduces environmentally friendly packaging for organic herbs in pots
Spar Austria has been working for years to reduce plastics and implement more sustainable solutions in its store network. The jars with Spar Natur * pur Tyrolean organic herbs in pots are made from 100% recycled material. The shell of the herbs, which was previously made of plastic, has now been replaced by paper.
UK: Sainsbury’s is under new pressure to pay the living wage for all workers

The vote at Britain’s second-largest supermarket’s annual shareholders’ meeting on July 7 will be the first on a resolution requiring the board of a British company to pay the living wage.
