The rugged Karbon 800 computers from OnLogic are now available

OnLogic, IoT Solution Provider and leading manufacturer of industrial computer hardware (www.onlogic.com), announced that their powerful rugged Karbon 800 series is now available. These industrial computers are designed to enable advances in machine learning, artificial intelligence, automation, and advanced manufacturing.
The Carbon 800 Series from OnLogic is specifically designed for Industry 4.0 and industrial IoT applications that require powerful computing in challenging environments or remote locations. The computers are powered by Intel’s latest 12th generation processors, formerly known as Alder Lake.

“We are impressed with how our customers have implemented the Karbon 700 Series. With significant performance upgrades from Intel’s 12th generation architecture, the Karbon 800 Series enables them to innovate even more,” said Kim Wasserman, Director of Product Management at OnLogic. “We focused on features and expansion options to support the widest range of applications from our customers. These include PCIe Gen 4.0 expansion to the latest GPUs and new I / O capabilities such as 10GbE and M12 LAN. We are also working on additional configurations, such as a high-capacity RAID array. These will be launched soon. The Carbon 800 Series computers are our best performing and configurable systems ever! “

Carbon 800 models

Carbon 800 is available in four models. Three of these are now available. Users can select and configure the system to be ideal for their specific needs. This can be done via OnLogic’s website or by calling OnLogic’s solution specialists.

Each model can be configured with an Intel Core i9 processor with up to 16 cores and 64 GB of DDR4 ECC or non-ECC RAM. Depending on the model, there is also a wide range of storage and expansion options available. This includes optional hot-swap modules and single and dual PCIe 4.0 slots. In addition to PCIe, OnLogic’s unique ModBay expansion technology is used to add various connectivity and storage options, such as up to 22 LAN ports or 30 USB 3 ports. OnLogic expects to be able to deliver these ModBay expansion options in the coming months.

Additional system information

Carbon 801 (K801)
• Only 50mm high, PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage, optional 4G LTE or Wi-Fi
Carb 802 (K802)
• Two ModBay I / O expansion slots
• Two 2.5-inch SATA SSDs with optional hot-swap
Carbon 803 (K803)
• A single-slot PCIe 4.0 x 16 expansion
Carbon 804 (K804)
• Two ModBay I / O expansion slots
• Two 2.5-inch SATA SSDs with optional hot-swap
• A dual-slot PCIe 4.0 x 16 or two single-slot PCIe 4.0 x 8 expansion
• Six 2.5-inch NVMe or SATA RAID array (coming soon)

Testing of robust applications

Like all OnLogic rugged computers, the Karbon 800 has been thoroughly tested. The systems have been in the climate chamber for weeks; not only to check whether the parts can withstand extreme temperatures, but also whether they continue to operate stably at these temperatures. The result is a fully controlled operating temperature range from -40 to 70 degrees Celsius.

The Carbon 800 Series is also designed, built and tested for reliability in applications that may be subject to prolonged vibration or shock. Think of the transportation sector or the heavy industry. In addition, the systems are subject to industry-standardized immunity testing to verify that they are resistant to interference in medical and communication applications. These pre-qualifications for general industry standards help users get started on their project faster.
