Job change in 2021 back to pre-corona levels

To measure the number of job changes – especially a change to another employer – the employees’ situation is looked at in January and then in December. Of the 7.9 million employees who had a job in January 2021, nearly 79 percent had the same job in December of that year, and nearly 14 percent (more than one million) had another employee job. More than 7 percent (587 thousand) no longer had an employee job.

Of the 8.0 million employees in January 2020, it was 79 percent, 12 percent and 9 percent, respectively. In this first corona year, fewer jobs were changed, and a larger proportion no longer had an employee job after a year.
