Walk over Oudemirdumerklif

Oudemirdumerklif is one of the first nature reserves in the Natuurmonumenten. As early as 1927, it became clear how unique this area is. The almost alien-feeling landscape is home to many plant and animal species and has a special history. The two ice ages, the transition from salt to fresh water when the Afsluitdijk was built, and the use of fishermen like Minne Minnes and his brother, have left their footprints in the landscape of Oudemirdumerklif.

Together with naturalist Gosse Haga and historian Arnoud van de Ridder, you will cross the area in search of these clues and you will hear the surprising stories behind the events. on can be reserved. There are still walks on Saturday 30 July, 6, 13 and 20 August.

Oudemirdum – Oudemirdumerklif, Sat at 10, 10 euros (children from 4 to 12 years 5 euros), membership price for adults is 7 euros and for children 3.50 euros

The shot shell from Drachten | Advertising

Skutsjesilen competitions have been organized since the nineteenth century. In those days, sailing mainly took place when the farmers had no cargo, and the skippers could win a cash prize. It is thanks to a Lodewijk Meeter that the competition series SKS still exists. When the silence was to be canceled in 1953, Meeter put an end to this; he arranged enough boats for the race to continue.

This year the SKS Skutsjesilen will take place again. The sailings come by boat to Grou on July 30, De Veenhoop on August 1, Earnewald on August 2 and Terherne on August 3. All matches start from Drachten. You can register for the competition via 0512-512971.

Drachten – Quay to Loswal 14, Sat and Mon to Wed at 14, 17.50 euros
