Stellantis and Qualcomm collaborate on new vehicle platforms

Stellantis and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. today announced a multi-year technology partnership to leverage the latest advances in the Snapdragon Digital Chassis to deliver intelligent, personalized and immersive vehicle experiences to millions of vehicles across Stellantis’ 14 automotive brands by 2024.

By leveraging the Snapdragon Cockpit platforms and 5G capabilities for telematics systems, Stellantis will be able to meet changing customer expectations for personalized and advanced experiences that can be continuously upgraded.

This agreement will facilitate Stellantis’ plan to merge all software domains for high-performance computing by leveraging the powerful, energy-efficient Snapdragon Automotive Platforms across all major vehicle domains and help secure Stellantis’ supply chain on strategic components.

To take the driver-vehicle relationship to the next level, Stellantis will use next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit platforms to power the in-car communication and infotainment systems for the STLA SmartCockpit, which is co-designed and developed with Amazon and Foxconn. Snapdragon Cockpit platforms are designed to not only deliver high-definition graphics for the touch and voice-activated cockpit console, but also to provide a fully immersive in-cabin experience, enabling premium audio and crystal-clear voice communication in the vehicle cabin.

Snapdragon Cockpit platforms will also be used to enhance STLA Brain, bringing a new level of digital intelligence for convenience and safety, and enhancing in-vehicle personal assistant functions with highly intuitive artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, including:

Over-the-air (OTA) updates that allow the vehicle to evolve and improve naturally over time by constantly being updated, upgraded and improved, as well as on-demand features and instant vehicle upgrades, such as additional horsepower or driving modes

Personalized experiences that leverage AI to adapt to a wide range of customer preferences

Improved user experiences thanks to faster communication with connected features and higher computing power to support future upgrades

Always connected experiences

Improved over-the-air diagnostics and repair experiences for all major vehicle systems

The first application will be by the Maserati brand to power the next-generation Stellaanti’s infotainment system.
