Russia detains 8 suspects in the attack on the Crimean bridge
08:25 | Russian authorities have arrested eight people in connection with the attack on the Crimean bridge at the weekend. This is reported by the Russian state news agency Tass. Russian security services have identified a senior Ukrainian figure as the culprit, Tass said. Tass quotes a statement from the FSB intelligence service:
“The Federal Security Service, together with the Investigative Committee, determined that the organizer of the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge was the Supreme Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, its head Kyrylo Budanov, employees and agents.
Currently, five citizens of Russia and three citizens of Ukraine and Armenia have been arrested in the criminal case for participating in the preparation of the crime.
The FSB claims that the explosives that caused part of the bridge to collapse were sent from Odessa through Bulgaria, Georgia and Armenia. Tass reports that the cargo containing the explosives was sent to a non-existent company in Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.

Ukraine is constantly short of ammunition and has been in demand for tanks and fighter jets for some time. But now anti-aircraft fire is at the top of the Kiev government’s wish list. Several NATO countries want to accommodate this. The thirty member states will in any case strengthen Ukraine’s striking power now that Russia is firing at civilian targets throughout the country and shielding it with nuclear weapons. The Netherlands is also considering sending a new batch of heavy weapons to Ukraine, NATO sources believe. However, as in many other Member States, the warehouses and warehouses are running out.
