Job description
People must be able to trust that food and consumer goods are safe and that companies comply with animal welfare rules. Who oversees this? The Dutch Food and Consumer Safety Authority (NVWA).
Good communication is essential to achieving these social goals. As a communication advisor for projects and educations, you have a key role in this. In your organization-wide position, you oversee NVWA’s reputation, you develop understanding among a wide range of target groups, and you ensure that colleagues and external parties know how we make choices.

As a communications advisor for projects & programmes, you contribute to NVWA’s identity and reputation together with colleagues from the communications department. You do this based on NVWA’s mission and vision and the multi-year communication strategy 2020-2023. You create strategic sub-plans for projects and programmes, where you outline the process and prioritize. You do this together with the (junior) communication advisors. You work on both internal and external projects and programs.

What do you want to do?
You are an experienced consultant with up-to-date professional knowledge. You provide strategic advice at all levels. You organize support for your approach plan and ensure the further implementation of communication. You are an all-rounder who can take your environment with you full of energy and can pull a project from start to finish. You convince with your approach and by tackling the project energetically together with your team. You can easily switch between the different projects/programmes you are involved in, and you are good at building and maintaining your own (informal) network. Do you encounter resistance or unexpected circumstances? You are always looking for innovative solutions, you are creative and change quickly. When the work becomes politically or administratively sensitive, you can easily navigate this.

The first major project you tackle as project manager is the further development of our social intranet. The current intranet was migrated to a new template at the end of 2020. We note that even with the current way of working in hybrid, we are ready for the next (development) step. Either in the current system or from a new CMS. You will be the first to sink your teeth into this question.

In short: in this position you fully contribute to NVWA’s social goals, you work on both internal and external projects, and you get the freedom and responsibility to give substance to these yourself.

Job requirements
To position NVWA as a reliable, transparent, independent and professional supervisor: keep this goal in mind in everything you do. You only see that you don’t end up in a bed spread out and that you may sometimes have to deal with resistance as a pleasant challenge. You are good to deal with, you stand firmly in your shoes and quickly know who you are dealing with. You can also convince your colleagues of the benefits of clear communication with your good ideas, enthusiasm and humor. You are also a team player. You are flexible in thinking and acting, and you are not distracted by setbacks. You are able to motivate your project team to complete the project. You can coordinate the various tasks and adjust where necessary. Realizing beautiful things together gives you energy.

We would also like to see the following:
• You have an HBO+/WO working and thinking level.
• You have completed communication training and at least seven years of relevant experience within the overall breadth of the communication field, preferably at one or more large, complex organisations.
• You have knowledge and experience with project management / project-based work.
• You are familiar with various content management systems.
• Experience with (further) development of a social intranet is of course an advantage.
• You have an affinity with the themes to which NVWA is committed.

Special circumstances

• Clearly state in your curriculum vitae that you meet the desired educational requirements.
• The selection committee can obtain references, but will always coordinate this with you in advance.
• An online screening via search engines or social media, for example, can be part of the selection process.
• A competency test and/or an assessment may be part of the selection procedure.
• A comprehensive A or B screening by the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) may be a requirement for a number of positions at NVWA (including IOD).
