The new Volvo EX90 is a fully-fledged seven-seater all-electric SUV that raises our standards for safety and sustainable living, and marks the start of a new era for our brand, setting a clear course towards an all-electric future.
Starting with the Volvo EX90, we reveal a new all-electric model. Our goal is to sell only fully electric cars by 2030 – one of the most ambitious electrification plans in the automotive industry and crucial to our ambition to be a CO2-neutral company by 2040.
Our new flagship was unveiled today in central Stockholm in keeping with our Swedish roots. At the same time, reflecting our global footprint as a company, the Volvo EX90 will be built in the US from next year and later in China. We aim to have these two production facilities operating in a climate-neutral manner by then.
As a new classic in Scandinavian design, the Volvo EX90 defines the principle of ‘form follows function’. It is a versatile, stylish family car with modern proportions that combines cutting-edge technology in core computing, connectivity and electrification to further optimize safety, efficiency and aesthetics.

Keeps you and your loved one safe
The standard safety equipment in the new Volvo EX90 is also at a higher level than any other Volvo ever before. It’s designed to understand you and your environment to help keep you, your loved ones and other road users safe. It also gets smarter and safer over time by learning from new data and receiving updates.
The Volvo EX90 has one invisible security shield, made possible by our latest sensor package inside and outside the car. Advanced sensors such as cameras, radars and lidar are connected to super-fast computers in the car, where Volvo Car’s own software NVIDIA DRIVE on to create a 360-degree view of the world in real time.
Our sensors don’t get tired or distracted. They are designed to respond when you are just a fraction late. Our lidar, provided by Luminar, screens the road in front of the car, whether it is day or night and whether you are driving in the city or on the motorway. It can track small objects hundreds of meters away, giving more time to inform, react and dodge. The sensors also contribute to the reliability and overall performance of Pilot Assist, our driving assistant, with new highway lane change steering assist.
It also stays in the car invisible security shield keep an eye on things. Special sensors and cameras monitor the driver’s eye movements via our proprietary algorithms. The technology ensures that the Volvo EX90 understands when you are distracted, tired or otherwise inattentive, in a better way than was ever possible in a Volvo.
The system warns you first subtly and then more insistently. If the unthinkable happens, such as falling asleep or falling ill while driving, the Volvo EX90 can safely stop itself and call for help.
Finally, thanks to an ultra-modern set of sensors, the Volvo EX90 including lidar, the first Volvo that is already hardware-ready for unsupervised autonomous driving.
Technology with a purpose
A core system – powered by NVIDIA DRIVE AI platforms Xavier and Orin, Snapdragon® Cockpit platforms from Qualcomm Technologies and proprietary software by Volvo engineers – takes care of most basic functions in the car, from safety to infotainment and battery management. The end result is a more immediate and pleasant experience in the car.
In other words, the Volvo EX90 is not just any new car. It is a very advanced computer on wheels. Even better, just like your smartphone or laptop, the EX90 is designed to get better with time thanks to regular over-the-air software updates.
By combining the computing power of Snapdragon® Cockpit platforms With the visualization capabilities of Unreal Engine, the 3D tool developed by Epic Games that is used to power the biggest games in the world, you can count on lightning-fast computing power and high graphics quality on screens and the head-up display in cars.
The central 14.5-inch screen gives access to one of them best infotainment systems on the market, with integrated Google functions. Apps and services such as Google Assistant, Google Maps and more of your favorite apps on Google Play are all included. The displays in the Volvo EX90 help you keep your eyes on the road by showing the right information at the right time. The EX90 also offers smartphone integration via wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto™.
Thanks to the standard 5G connection where possible, it has never been easier to install apps on the home screen and enjoy very intuitive navigation. You can also stream your favorite music through the new Bowers & Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos, a first for Volvo. There are also speakers in the headrests for an extra immersive sound experience.
In addition, the Volvo EX90 is equipped as standard with technology to use your smartphone as a car key. When you approach the car, the car is automatically unlocked and a personalized welcome sequence starts. Also, your personal profile is loaded when you enter.
This technology comes together in one of the most comfortable and elegant interiors on the market, full of natural and responsible materials. This interior composition reflects our sustainability goals, whereby we want to be a fully circular and climate-neutral company by 2040.
Support for a more sustainable lifestyle
The Volvo EX90 is the perfect companion for a more sustainable lifestyle. The model contains 15% recycled steel, approximately 25% recycled aluminum and 48 kg of recycled plastic and biomaterials, which equates to approximately 15% of the total plastic used in the car – the highest level of any Volvo to date.
In addition, the Volvo EX90 is our first car with everyone necessary hardware for two-way charging. This technology makes it possible to use the car’s battery as an additional energy supply, for example for your home, other electrical appliances or another Volvo electric car. We want to enable two-way charging in the future and are starting to do so in select markets.
Prices and specifications
The new Volvo EX90 can be ordered from today with a selection of two drive variantsboth with two electric motors, four-wheel drive, seven seats including electrically folding third row of seats, 2,200 kg towing weight and a 111 kW battery suitable for 250 kW fast charging, which allows the battery to be charged from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes.
Prices start at €102,495 for the EX90 Twin AWD Ultra with 300 kW (408 hp) of power, 770 Nm of torque and a range of up to 585 kilometers (WLTP). The EX90 Twin Performance AWD Ultra with 380 kW (517 hp) of power, 910 Nm of torque and a range of up to 580 kilometers (WLTP) is available from €107,495.
The Volvo EX90 comes as standard including -one Care package with a three-year manufacturer’s warranty, maintenance and replacement of wear parts. In order to serve the market optimally, the EX90 is not only available for purchase and lease (B2B), but also through Care by Volvo, a subscription form for those who value extra comfort in terms of duration (from €1,549 per month).
