In a first collaboration between Podium Victorie and HAL 25, the performance ‘See your heart as a rhythm’ can be seen in HAL 25 on 9 December at 8.30 pm. A new performance by the upcoming theater maker, actress and singer Joske Koning. She makes ‘fast, taboo-breaking, honest performances’, this time together with jazz and improvisational guitarist Jasper Stadhouders. The (largely improvised) performance is a mixture of theater and music about love.

Lie down and listen to a classical concert, that’s the idea behind the reclining concert. On Thursday 15 December, the pianist Heather Pinkham will play at 8.15 pm in Teater De Vest. She started in the US as a singer-songwriter. Now she plays minimal music in the Netherlands. In addition to her own work, she performs ‘hallucinatory pieces’ by Hans Otte and Arvo Pärt. Winter mood in De Rijp
Theatre, street theatre, song, music, dance and all that in the historic winter atmosphere of De Rijp. On 9, 10 and 11 December, the Midwinter Festival takes place with around two hundred performances. The party starts on Friday with a parade for people with disabilities (16.15 from Wollandje). At 18:00 there is a light evening for children and at 19:00 the official opening by mayor Schouten and children’s mayor Miya Scheltinga. The band Poor Mans Limo closes on Friday from 19:30 to 23:00 on Plukkersplein. There is a market on Saturday and Sunday, numerous performances and children’s activities from 12.00. The festive end will be on 11 December at 18.30 at Kleine Dam with the announcement of the lottery prizes. Program booklets and raffle tickets are on sale for €5.
Face Fears & Hitchmen
Open Atelier Marina & Sabrina presents the exhibition ‘Face fears’ on 9th, 10th and 11th December from 1-6pm, about how it can sometimes be scary to show art that ‘comes directly from your soul’. One of ‘Sabrina’s works is ‘You got me’, which was originally created from a live painting performance in 2019. On 11 Dec. is live music at 14.30 and 15.30 by Hitchmen, a choir of thirteen singers from Heiloo specializing in Americana. Free entry.
Walking Santa Clauses
Around 250 participants take part in the Santa Run on December 11 around Coolplein in Heerhugowaard. Come and cheer them on! All runners are dressed as Santa Claus and run a five or ten kilometer course. For children, there is a Kids Run of 600 and 1200 metres. The profit goes to Noordwest Hospital to make an information film for children and cancer patients, to the foundation ‘Je mag er zijn Noord-Holland’ and to the Ukrainian residents of Transferium to decorate their Christmas party. De Twentigers (founded in 2020) is a group of four painters: Serob Darbinian, Philip Knipscheer, John Konijn and Ad Kuijper. Until January 31, they are exhibiting around eighty paintings in the Little Switzerland Gallery in Schoorl. Everyone has their own style, but they all teach around three hundred students at the Vrije Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten. Opening hours: Wed. to Sun from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Concerts for Christmas

Hits with Heino
The ‘most popular schlager artist in the world’ is giving a Weihnachtsfest tour and is now on Dutch soil. Heino is in Podium Victorie on 11 December at 20 with a Christmas special. In the 70s he became known with hits such as ‘Blau Blüht Der Enzian’, ‘Die Schwarze Barbara’ and ‘La Montanara’. In 2013, the album ‘Mit freundlichen Grüßen’ was released, with covers by, among others, Rammstein. Info: podiumvictoria.nl
Five Alkmaar children play the main role in the theater performance ‘People’s children’ by Doris Vervuurt. The performance premieres on 10 December at 19.30 at Drechterwaard 16 in Alkmaar. Doris asked Mila, Boaz, Tristan, Fiene and Tijn to help create the theater performance. Their stories became the source of inspiration and threw all assumptions about how the world works overboard.
