The hottest week in Hasselt (Hasselt)

The wettest week

Ponchos, raincoats, umbrellas,… Those who came to Stadsparken during De Warmste Week had better be prepared for rain. Drops fell from the sky every day, but fortunately the heavy downpours that had been predicted did not reach Hasselt. Het Warmste Huis welcomed a total of 102,000 visitors. On most evenings, more than 7,000 visitors passed the counter. It was Wednesday and Friday full house with 10,000 people.

Madness at Goldband and the Hottest Warrior

The biggest crowd pullers turned out to be the free concerts. The craziest party was planned for Wednesday night. Dutch sensation Goldband helped thousands of students celebrate the end of graduation. Even the wooden floor had to suffer. 10,000 lucky people could secure a place in the park during the first sold-out evening. And who couldn’t get in? He sang, danced and jumped along on the lawn in front of the turnstiles.

Not all interested parties arrived on Friday night either. Oscar and the Wolf’s Max Colombie had rightly chosen a sparkly scarf for the last performance of the year. After Pukkelpop, the hottest won Warrior for the second time this year Hasselt.

Thanks to Regi, The Haunted Youth, Dikke and Stijn Meuris’s guest appearance in Bazart, the poster also got a bronze-green hue.

The warmest province

“We want to show that Limburg is the warmest province.” It was said already on day one, and it turned out to be no empty promise. This edition, a remarkable number of actions were organized in the province that hosted Het Warmste Huis. If someone appeared at the microphone, it soon became clear that they often did not have to travel very far to the studio or could not hide a Limburgish accent. But regardless of whether they got on the air or not: Most activists went to Stadsparken anyway to put their action in the spotlight or to soak up the warmest atmosphere.

A Heart for Limburg immediately set the tone on day one with no less than 100,000 euros. Limburg ministers Jo Brouns and Lydia Peeters treated the presenters to knubbelkesvlaai on Tuesday, but their €300,000 check on behalf of the Flemish government was also appreciated.

48,000 euros could be read on the check from the student associations UHasselt, UCLL and PXL. And the 28 primary schools in Hasselt had also merged. Dozens of campaigns together yielded 42,745.68 euros.

Everyone likes pizza, so Bruno Foodcorner not only got a quick bite, but also 10,000 euros. A nice round number, also thought the governor, who released the same amount on behalf of the province. The neighbors of Jessa Hospital came to hand over 15,000 euros on Friday. The last big check came from the city of Hasselt. 29 different activities gave a total of 47,146.39 euros.

Press studs and wood chips

Are the concerts a little too loud for the neighbors at Jessa Hospital? Actions are then taken. Does anyone ever get stuck at the turnstiles? Snap buttons ensure even circulation. Is the terrain getting a little wet due to the persistent rain? Bring wood chips! The warmest week was one without major incidents. The previously feared traffic woes did not appear either.

From Bart Kaëll to Witte Drab

During De Warmste Week, everything is suddenly possible with music in Studio Brussels and MNM. The regular fans of De Tijdloze learn to unleash the hits of Pommelien Thijs and Metejoor, and the public and voters of the MNM Top 50 discover artists who by default occupy the upper tiers of De Afaccount.

It also resulted in many beautiful moments. Floating on the audience to the tune of You are sailing for the first time from Bart Kaell? Of course, even if they went under every now and then! Having a karaoke moment with 10,000 people Another love from Tom Odell? Magic!

But the surprising and unexpected hit of this edition was the Christmas single that Fien Germijns and her morning partner Thibault Christiaensen launched in November. White laundry of Goldband suddenly became White sad. Fortunately, those things didn’t drop out of the blue last week, but the song was requested by a ton of listeners. The duo therefore had no choice but to bring it live on Friday night during the set of Why Het Kan Soundsystem and Average Rob. Whether Fien’s voice allowed it after five days and nights of presentation or not.
