SLTN had the scoop last year: the IT company from Hilversum was the first to win the Dutch IT Channel Award in the then new Datacenter Services Innovator of the Year category. Five parties are competing for succession: Axians, Conscia, Digital Realty, Equinix and NorthC Datacenters. The winner will be announced on 16 March 2023 during a festive ‘Hollywood style’ presentation of the Dutch IT Channel Awards at Studio21 in Hilversum. The nominees in this category are:
Axians proved itself in 2022 with GAIA, a modular platform for cross data center optimization and workload connectivity. ‘Connect the dots’ is the credo, because by working together with suppliers such as Microsoft, Equinix and Cisco, GAIA can create one integrated data center and hybrid multi-cloud environment from different architectures and (underlying) technologies. Users include FrieslandCampina – which with Axian’s GAIA gained one central place for managing all data center resources, creating a better overview and increasing its digital agility – and Gelre Hospital, where the much-needed availability of data increased significantly thanks to the platform.
In 2022, Conscia created an interesting customer case at the care institution Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland in Rotterdam and Schiedam. The service provider from Gouda has managed the IT network there for a while, including around ten thousand endpoints such as computers, data center servers, medical modalities and various types of mobile devices. In the past year, Conscia has brought more unity to the colorful collection of security solutions. It was decided to assign security via a managed service and to monitor computer and network activities from now on via a Security Operations Center (SOC). Result: The hospital is safer and future-proofed, and less management is required.
Digital Realty made headlines in 2022 by working with UK semiconductor vendor Graphcore and European cloud and edge vendor G-Core Labs to make innovative AI solutions available to many more (types of) customers. The American company with no fewer than thirteen data centers in Amsterdam talks about ‘the first European collaboration of this scale to accelerate the adoption of AI solutions in Europe’. Customers will be completely relieved, Digital Realty promises, so smaller organizations can also develop AI applications with few investments and a minimal technical set-up. Digital Realty acquired Dutch Interxion in 2020 and this integration was completed in 2022.
Equinix intensified its partnership with Dell Technologies in 2022. With data center activities and an innovative portfolio of digital services, it supports American multinational companies worldwide with their digital transformation. Hundreds of thousands of Dell servers run in Equinix data centers, but collaboration goes further. For example, partners and customers co-locate Dell infrastructure with Equinix or purchase digital services from Equinix that are based on Dell hardware. Dell Technologies’ new APEX portfolio, a scalable as-a-service solution that enables customers to manage their entire IT infrastructure, is also supported by Equinix’s data center services.
NorthC has data centers in Amsterdam, Rotterdam-The Hague, Utrecht, Groningen and Eindhoven. NorthC’s strength lies mainly in the services that the company does not provide, such as IAAS and backup & recovery services. NorthC doesn’t want to get in the way of parties like MSPs and hosters and only do what it’s really good at: co-location services with requirements like (adequate) power, cooling, square meters and connectivity. For other services, NorthC prefers to work with specialized partners, of which the data center company has already registered 50 since the start of the partner program in 2021. The only ‘SaaS service’ they can expect from NorthC is ‘Cooperation-as-a-Service’ , they say jokingly.
