Tremendous Pet Love: Photoshoots, Holiday Parties…

Beastly Love is the catchy title of a new series about pets. Better said about crazy love for pets. Although the owners of the cats, dogs, hamsters, birds or whatever see it very differently, of course.

Bringing pets to the office is hardly strange anymore if you watch the series. Subway wrote about it before. “Minded” in the headline at the top of this article doesn’t sound very nice. But the transmitter Beastly Love broadcasts, KRO-NCRV, even talks about ‘how love for our pets can turn into madness’. The online series is in the Brandpunt+ name and can be seen on NPO 3’s YouTube channel from today.

Beastly Love in a Can on the Tube

At the end of a working week, we see such a ‘crazy’ series Subway sit. At least Erik Jonk from the TV section Look at the tube well. Not a pet owner, rarely if ever invited to a lavish dog party. But do you look at it? Ha!

From dangerous wild cats to slithering snakes and from harmless hamsters to cute dogs and cats, we have all kinds of pets running and teeming in our country. What these animal lovers can do for their darlings seems unlimited: professional photoshoots, elaborate birthday parties and thousands of euros in countless accessories… Everything is pulled out of the closet to seal (and spread through social media) the love for these four-legged friends.

Jill calls her chihuahua ‘her daughter’

So madness comes from the unconditional love of pets, according to KRO-NCRV. It is up to the participants who apply Beastly Love did not allow watching footage at all. We only see total surrender (looks nice though). We have Jill (33 years old) and her chihuahua Juicy. Juicy turns 13 and it is celebrated diligently. Complete with a dog party planner, dog cake, dog friends, dog balloons, dog wreaths and dog gifts. “A child’s birthday is celebrated, so is my dog.”

Balancing of inner contents pets

Pets that are a little off the beaten track are also thought of. Then, for example, you go to holistic dog behavior coach Kesley (24). She helps other people to have a better relationship with their four-legged friend with the help of precious stones and essential oils – and with the help of her colleague: the dog Bommel. What will be done with the gems? Well, something to ‘balance the inner contents of a four-legged friend’. We see an example of a dog that has been bitten regularly, very sad. His owner has always kept the animal away from other four-legged friends, ‘so he doesn’t speak dog language’.

They exist, petfluencers

And then you can wait for it, we also have influencers. Petfluencers, because ‘pets’, they are called. Petfluencer Debbie (30) has four British Shorthairs. The cats have their own Instagram account with more than 30,000 followers, where they pose with bows, bandanas and hats. And so it continues.

Beastly Love however, very nicely shows another side. Xana (25) works for the Dutch Food and Consumer Safety Authority and shows how keeping exotic animals can go wrong. Floris is a volunteer at the animal ambulance. He shares his knowledge about animals on social media to inspire other young people and raise awareness about animal welfare. Daphne volunteers with Animal Rights and actively hunts poachers to catch and film them in the act.

Voice over by Beastly Love asking a valid question. Who are the pet bosses and managers doing all this “stuff” for anyway? Are they doing this out of unconditional love for their animals? Or maybe especially for yourself? Judge for yourself…
